Kamaliʻi Elementary Educator Selected for National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship

Kacie Seitz is an enrichment teacher for grades 3–5 and curriculum coordinator at Kamaliʻi Elementary School in Kīhei. She has been named a 2026 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow through the National Geographic Society in partnership with Lindblad Expeditions.

Kamaliʻi Elementary School in Kīhei recently welcomed nationally recognized mathematics education author Allison Hintz back to campus. The visit celebrated Kamaliʻi’s innovative, student-centered, and place-based approach to mathematics teaching and learning—work that is now being shared nationally.

The presentation showcased how connecting the “Counting Collections” strategy to students’ own community makes learning more relevant and powerful, fostering a deeper connection to both mathematics and culture.
