Kamaliʻi Elementary School principal, Cynthia “Cyndi” Rothdeutsch, was recognized as the Project Based Learning Champion of the Year by PBL Works. The prestigious national award acknowledges Rothdeutsch’s outstanding contributions to education and her dedication to implementing project-based learning or PBL in her school.

National authors Allison Hintz and Antony Smith made a special visit to Maui’s Kamali’i Elementary School recently, thanks to generous support from The Four Seasons Maui.

Nine year old Jayda Hansen of Kīhei, Maui was named one of 155 semifinalists in Future Engineer’s Artemis Moon Pod Essay Contest, a national competition held in collaboration with NASA, that asked K-12 students to imagine leading a one-week expedition at the Moon’s South Pole.

Kamaliʻi Elementary School principal, Cynthia Rothdeutsch of Maui was among 14 public school principals across the state honored for leadership excellence.

Two Maui schools will benefit from a total of $650,000 in grant funding to improve pedestrian safety, and promote walking and bicycling through Safe Routes To School programs.
