Maunakea listed on National Register of Historic Places
Maunakea on Hawaiʻi Island is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The majestic mountain earned the designation on March 27, 2025, and is identified as a Traditional Cultural Property or TCP and District by the federal government of the United States.
Regents approve naming UH Mānoa building after “First Lady of Limu”
The University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents voted unanimously to approve the renaming of the UH Mānoa Life Sciences Building after Isabella Aiona Abbott, affectionately known as the “First Lady of Limu.” The approval came at a meeting on Jan. 19, 2023, following a groundswell of support from the campus community.
