State law enforcement hope to shut down “Sexy Sandbar Saturday” party before it starts

“Ahu o Laka is enjoyed by families and people of all ages, who won’t appreciate having a bunch of drunk young people around. Anyone caught selling tickets, operating a boat with paying customers without a valid commercial permit, serving alcohol to minors, or any other number of potential violations will be cited or arrested,” according to state officials.

A “family feel” is how state officers with the state Department of Land and Natural Resources described the atmosphere at Ahu O Laka, “the Kaneʻohe sandbar” on Saturday, the first day of the three-day Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The state will once again enforce emergency rules banning drugs and alcohol use at the Kane‘ohe Sandbar during the Admission Day holiday weekend.
