Power restored to 25% of customers on Kauaʻi, including Kaua‘i Veterans and Samuel Mahelona memorial hospitals
Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative was able to restore more than 6,000 customers as of 4:30 pm Wednesday in portions of Kapa‘a, Līhu‘e, Kōloa, Po‘ipū, Waimea and Kapaʻa. Both Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital are energized, and crews were working to restore power to Wilcox Medical Center last night. Approximately 25% of KIUC’s members have power restored, compared to 10% from Tuesdayʻs report.
Post-disaster response underway on Kauaʻi following Hurricane Lowell
(Update: 10:25 a.m., Sept. 9, 2026) The following are updates regarding the Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency’s post-disaster response to Hurricane Lowell.
HDOT provides round up of statewide stream clean-ups
On Molokaʻi, crews are working on planning and design for culvert replacement at Keawanui Gulch along Kamehameha V Highway. This work is estimated to begin in early September. The contractor will begin this culvert replacement work at the same time as culvert replacement along Maunaloa Highway at Kākalahale Stream.
