Update: Hāna Shelter OPENS; Shelters CLOSE in Central and South Maui

As of 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, emergency shelters have opened in Central and South Maui at: War Memorial Gym in Wailuku; and Kamaliʻi Elementary School Cafeteria in Kīhei.

Weather Delays Completion of Haʻikū Road Culvert

Due to constant rain delays, the completion of Haʻikū culvert and embankment repairs project along Haʻikū Road has been pushed back to October 2016, county officials announced.

Maui police have closed Kauhikoa Road between 2189 Kauhikoa Road and Kaupakalua Road due to suspected unexploded ordnance located in the area.

BRIEF: Lengthy Kaupakalua Road Closure Due to Vehicle-Pole Accident

Maui police say repairs to a utility pole forced the lengthy 10-hour closure of Kaupakalua Road in Haiku overnight. The closure went into effect at 8:24 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012, and lasted until 6:30 a.m. today.
