Maui police have cordoned off an section of shoreline off of Amala Place in Kahului while they conduct an investigation in the area. The investigation includes a section of beach between the Kahului/Wailuku Wastewater Reclamation Facility and Kanaha Beach.

Fire officials say the man is a middle-aged visitor to Hawaiʻi. More information on his identity will be released after proper identification and notification of next of kin.
