Gov. Green requests expedited Major Disaster Declaration following Hurricane Lowell

State and county teams continue to assess damage as access is restored. After signing the document on Kauaʻi, Green submitted an expedited request to President Donald J. Trump for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration following Hurricane Lowell, seeking immediate federal assistance for Kauaʻi and Maui counties.

Kaumālapaʻu Harbor on Lānaʻi is inoperable

As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, Kaumālapaʻu Harbor on Lānaʻi is inoperable due to Hurricane Lowell. Additional staff will be headed to Kaumālapaʻu this afternoon.
