Maui police say speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in a fatal head-on crash on North Kīhei Road, Tuesday night.

Fisherman finds unresponsive man in water in Māʻalaea; victim identified as 23-year-old Kīhei man

A 62-year-old Pukalani man reported trolling in his boat near the shoreline between the “Pali” lookout and tunnel when he observed a fishing pole bobbing in the water and an unresponsive male nearby. The victim has since been identified as a 23-year-old Kīhei man. 

Air and Sea Search Continues for Missing Kayaker

The search for Torry Durrell, 55, of Kihei, was launched at around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, when a neighbor reported that he failed to return from kayaking the day before. The search has already covered 96 square miles.

66-year-old Pedestrian Dies in Puunene Collision
