The Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services is reminding Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program households impacted by the second kona low weather event from March 20–23, 2026, that the deadline to request replacement benefits is April 9, 2026.

Maui Emergency Management Agency, County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation and the American Red Cross recently moved the Molokaʻi shelter across the street to Mitchell Pau’ole Community Center, 90 Ainoa St., Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi. Also, a Temporary Evacuation Point was opened at Kilohana Recreation Center, 334 E. Kamehameha V Highway.

Areas currently under Maui Emergency Management Agency evacuation WARNING are some neighborhoods in Lahaina, Kīhei and ʻĪao Valley, as well as Wailuku along ʻĪao River, and Wahikuli and Leali‘i neighborhoods below Ka La‘i Ola due to retention basin level monitoring.

Gov. Josh Green called the kona storm from last week and the additional kona storm this week, the largest flood that Hawaiʻi has seen in 20 years.
