New Laws Help 2,800 Maui Sugar and Mākena Resort Workers

The new laws give the recently displaced HC&S and Mākena Prince Resort workers the resources to support their families as they transition to new jobs on Maui. The 2,800 workers represented approximately 3.5% of the 82,550 people who were employed in Maui County in February.

Makena Beach & Golf Resort to Close July 1

ATC Makena Holdings, LLC, owners of the 1,800-acre Mākena resort, will close the 310-room Makena Beach & Golf Resort (formerly the Maui Prince Hotel) at noon July 1, 2016.
