Are the many vehicles seen on Maui roads with the “Kingdom of Hawai‘i” license plates are legal? Many have no inspection decals and no visible means of identification other than the yellow “Kingdom of Hawai‘i” plates.

Ask the Mayor: Why Can’t We Use Licence Plates to Access Ownership?

Since we (the public) can look up who owns certain property by a tax key number or address, then why can’t we look up who owns a car by the license plate number?
