Maui’s Kama‘ole Parks Reopened After Shark Incident

Maui ocean safety lifeguards closed the beaches and ocean waters between Kama‘ole Beach Park I and Kama‘ole Beach Park III due to a shark incident today.

Shark Sighting Temporarily Closes Mākena Beach

Maui County lifeguards at Mākena State Park closed the beach and directed swimmers to exit the water because of a shark sighting shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday.

UPDATE: Shark Sighting Closes Mākena State Park

The waters off of Big Beach”and Little Beach at Mākena State Park were closed for around two hours Thursday afternoon, Sept. 21, 2017, due to a shark sighting.

A portion of beach in South Maui was under surveillance for about two hours earlier today following a confirmed shark sighting in the area of Mākena Landing, officials said.
