March 21, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 81 Cases (42 O‘ahu, 24 Maui, 5 Hawai‘i Island, 1 Moloka‘i, 9 Out-of-State); 1 Death

The state Department of Health reports that there were 81 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Sunday, including 42 on O‘ahu, 24 on Maui, five on Hawai‘i Island, one on Moloka‘i, and nine in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed out of state. There were a total of 850 cases logged over the past two weeks, 287 of them in Maui County.

Emergency Ventilators Produced on Maui for COVID-19 Response Unveiled

“We are now receiving requests coming in from San Diego, New York, Maine and multiple countries including the U.K., India and Mexico,” Dr. O’Connell of HNu Photonics said. “We literally stopped work on our NASA contracts to develop this life support medical instrument to support Maui County’s needs to fight the coronavirus.”

Mayor Michael Victorino announced today, $100,000 in grant funds to Maui Economic Development Board Inc. for local production of emergency ventilators to treat COVID-19.
