#MECO rate increase

The approved 3.8% interim rate increase takes effect on Aug 23, 2018 and will increase the typical monthly residential bill for 500 kilowatt-hours on Maui by $5

Under the PUC decision, a 1.5% increase, or $4.7 million in annual revenues was finalized, effective May 4, 2012. Company officials say the amount has already been reflected in electric bills since August 2010, when the PUC approved an interim increase.

Based on MECO projections, a typical bill for residential customers on each island would increase by approximately $13 per month. Any increase, if granted, would go into effect in mid-2012 at the earliest.

Maui Electric Company is requesting a rate increase for Maui County customers in 2010.  The 9.7% increase translates to $28.2 million.  The funds generated are projected for use toward capital improvement projects and increased operating and maintenance costs.
