Flood Watch extended through late tonight, Winter Storm Warning for Big Island summits through Monday morning

A kona low, currently north of the islands, has drawn abundant moisture northward. Rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are anticipated. The heaviest rain is expected to last through tonight.

Update: Molokaʻi Flood Advisory until 7:45 a.m.; Maui and Molokaʻi Flood Warnings canceled

At 4:32 a.m., radar showed heavy rain had redeveloped over the eastern third of Molokaʻi. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour. The NWS says some locations that will experience flooding include: Pūkoʻo, ʻUalapuʻe, Hālawa Valley, Kamalo, Kalaupapa National Park and Kawela.

Maui Flood Watch Until 4 a.m. Saturday 3/10/12

Radar images at 12:06 p.m. showed rainfall rates of three-and-a-half to four inches per hour, according to the NWS. The area of heavy rain continues to move west through the West Maui Mountain chain.
