“Historic” drought conditions in Maui County accompanied by record low stream flow

Officials with the State Commission of Water Resource Management say a significant lack of rainfall across the island has resulted in a lack of groundwater recharge and surface flow at streams and rivers.

ʻOheʻo Stream Closed Due to Theft of Monitoring Equipment

The ʻOheʻo Stream, located along the Pīpīwai Trail in the Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park, will be closed until further notice due to the theft of stream monitoring equipment, Park officials announced.
