Crews from Maui Electric Company worked to restore power to various parts of the county affected by outages over the last few days. Below is a run-down of incidents and restoration efforts reported since Friday when high winds brought down trees and power lines in several parts of the island.
Olinda Power Outage Caused by Fallen Trees
Maui Electric Company is reporting a power outage in the Haleakala Summit and Olinda areas was caused by fallen trees. The notification was issued at 8:49 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013.
Wind Wreaks Havoc on MECO Power Lines and Poles
Officials from Maui Electric Company say high winds on Monday night brought several trees down on power lines in Olinda at around 9 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012. The incident cut off power to an estimated 270 customers in the Olinda and Piiholo areas.
