Father and Son Rescued After Becoming Separated from Kayaks in Olowalu

Approximately an hour into the search, personnel aboard a Jet Ski located the two missing individuals about a mile offshore.  They were both assisted onto the Jet Ski and brought back to shore where they were reunited with family. Both kayaks were retrieved and secured by a crew aboard the department’s rescue boat.

Owner Claims Unmanned Kayak Near Olowalu, Maui

The owner of an unmanned yellow kayak found floating adrift offshore of Olowalu, Maui on Saturday, has since contacted the US Coast Guard and claimed the item.

UPDATE: Owner of Unmanned Kayak Found off of Olowalu Located

The Coast Guard has since located the owner of an inflatable kayak found adrift approximately one mile off Olowalu Beach in West Maui on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. The owner stated the kayak blew off the beach late in the night.
