The nonprofit Hawaiʻi Land Trust has received a more than $1.1 million grant from the Hawai‘i Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund to create temporary workforce opportunities in partnership with KUPU for 48 Maui residents who have been affected by the recent wildfires. Applications are open through Nov. 17, 2023.

Invitees who have not yet committed to attending the ‘Aha have until Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 11:59 p.m. Hawaiʻi time to confirm their participation.

The announcement comes after Na‘i Aupuni announced its termination of the Native Hawaiian election process amid delays caused by ongoing litigation.

Naʻi Aupuni, an organization formed to establish a path to Native Hawaiian self-determination, announced today it is extending the deadline to vote in its elections to midnight on Dec, 21, 2015.

There are two Maui candidates identified as members of Nā Makalehua: ‘Olu Campbell and Kaniela Ing. Nā Makalehua is a collective consisting of 19 individuals who are seeking delegate seats to participate in the Na‘i Aupuni Native Hawaiian constitutional convention.
