President Signs Disaster Declaration for Pāhoa Lava Flow
The declaration was in response to an Oct. 24 request made by Governor Neil Abercrombie for federal aid.
Lava Could Cross Pāhoa Village Rd by Sept. 24-26
The Wao Kele o Puna Forest Reserve on Hawaiʻi Island was closed on Friday night due to the danger posed by the June 27 lava flow. Crews are also building escape roads in Puna as lava from the Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō vent approaches the northwest corner of Kaʻohe Homesteads.
