A woman and her five-year-old daughter who were having trouble getting back to shore aboard a stand-up-paddle board on Sunday afternoon are safe after being helped by bystanders.

Rescue crews responded to two separate paddle boarding incidents at Pāpalaua Wayside Park in West Maui on Friday after receiving distress reports from the location.

A 12-year-old girl along with two of her father’s friends were stand up paddling when the winds came up and started pulling them off shore. Four paddle boarders and a kayaker were rescued from waters off of Papalaua Beach Park in West Maui over the weekend.
