A bipartisan group of US Senators announced their support for the Protecting Kids on Social Media Act, a bill that aims to establish a minimum age of 13 for social media app usage, require parental consent for 13 to 17-year-olds, and prevent social media companies from using personalized algorithms for users under 18.

Hawaiʻi Attorney General Holly T. Shikada and a bipartisan coalition of 44 attorneys general, wrote TikTok and Snapchat this week to urge them to give parents the ability to monitor their children’s social media usage and protect their children from online threats using parental control apps.
