High winds result in power outages to thousands in West Maui, Olinda-Piʻiholo
Update: 12 p.m., Aug. 9, 2023. Hawaiian Electric is asking for continued patience from affected West Maui and Upcountry customers without power and for affected customers to plan for extended outages as access to many impacted areas is limited due to safety and emergency response concerns.
Extended Power Outages Possible: Olinda, Pi‘iholo, Parts of Ha‘ikū
Maui Electric is asking affected customers in the Olinda and Pi‘iholo area as well as parts of Haiku along Kokomo Road and Kauihikoa Road to prepare for an extended outage with the possibility of an overnight outage.
BRIEF: Normal Water Service Restored to Upper Olinda, Pi‘iholo
Power service has been restored to the last remaining pump station affected during the Jan. 3 storm. The county Department of Water Supply announced today. Normal water service has been restored in the Upper Olinda and Upper Pi‘iholo Roads. Residents and businesses may resume normal water usage in all areas.
Wind Wreaks Havoc on MECO Power Lines and Poles
Officials from Maui Electric Company say high winds on Monday night brought several trees down on power lines in Olinda at around 9 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012. The incident cut off power to an estimated 270 customers in the Olinda and Piiholo areas.
