Maui police have since identified the individual killed in a shootout on Lower Main Street in Wailuku over the weekend as Shawn Akamine, 46, of Wailuku, Maui.

Marshall M.K. Langford had “high levels of methamphetamine and amphetamine in his body at the time of his death,” says toxicology report.

Today marked the one week anniversary of a fatal police-involved shooting in South Maui that claimed the life of Maui resident Marshall Langford. Family members said all they want is peace and to know that something will be done.

Maui police say the two weapons recovered from the car driven by a slain theft suspect included a sawed-off shotgun and an airsoft pellet gun.

Maui Police issued an update this afternoon saying they recovered firearms, as well as other items from a vehicle involved in Tuesday’s fatal shooting incident at the parking lot of the Mana Kai Resort.

The recovery of a weapon remains under investigation. Acting Capt. Peter Delima, said police are still executing a warrant to get into the vehicle used in the incident.

Maui police have since identified the victim as 31 year old Marshall M.K. Langford of Wailuku. County officials have confirmed that a second suspect also involved in the stolen car incident has since turned himself in to Maui police.
