EPA Approves Fungicide for Hawai‘i Coffee Growers to Battle Coffee Leaf Rust

Webinars Scheduled for Coffee Growers on Possible Fungicide Use
The University of Hawai`i’ – College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources and Hawai`i Department of Agriculture are hosting two free webinars to inform Hawai`i coffee growers on the potential use of a fungicide to combat coffee leaf rust. The webinars are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 1 and Thursday, April 8.
State Seeks EPA Exemption for Hawaiʻi Coffee Farmers Battling Damaging Fungus
The Hawaiʻi Department of Agriculture today filed a request for a specific exemption from the US Environmental Protection Agency to allow Hawaiʻi coffee growers to use a fungicide to help manage coffee leaf rust, a fungus that is a serious threat to Hawaiʻi’s $56 million coffee industry.
