The Thirty Meter Telescope or TMT project site is the last new area on the mountain where a telescope project will be contemplated or sought by the University, UH officials said.

A public talk and educational event entitled “Aloha ʻĀina – Haleakalā to Mauna a Wākea” will be held at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Ka Lama Building courtyard on Friday, June 5, 2015 beginning at 4 p.m.

This is the second time that the Governor has announced a “timeout extension” following ongoing demonstrations blocking access to the construction site, teach-ins, and walkout events across the state.

More than 100 students, faculty and staff at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College staged a Walk Out for Mauna Kea this afternoon in which they delivered a letter stating opposition to the Thirty Meter Telescope or “TMT” project to Vice Chancellor Dr. John McKee.
