No Tsunami Threat to Hawai‘i After 6.5 Aleutian Islands Quake

There is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi after a preliminary magnitude 6.5 earthquake reported in the Aleutian Islands region off Alaska. 

4.2 Earthquake Between Maui and Hawai‘i: Likely Caused by Weight of Islands

The 4.2 earthquake early Sunday morning in the ‘Alenuihāhā Channel, was likely due to bending of the oceanic plate from the weight of the island.
