Marine Debris a Growing Concern, Piles Found at Waiehu
The northeast facing shoreline tends to get the brunt of incoming ocean debris. Piles of netting have been reported along the shoreline of the Waiehu Golf Course. Crews say they haven’t seen an increase per se yet, but even if it’s twice as much, it would be concerning.
Mayor Wants to Convert Waste-to-Energy at Puunene Landfill
The County of Maui plans to covert trash into energy and lighten its carbon footprint with a new Waste Conversion Plant in Pu’unene. The project is in addition to the Maui Landfill Gas Utilization Project, which was announced last year.
