State Senator Roz Baker has pulled papers for re-election to the 6th Senatorial District of South and West Maui.

Hawai‘i State Sen. Roz Baker and Maui County Council Vice-Chair Don Guzman were among five legislators and community leaders honored by the Nutrition & Physical Activity Coalition of Maui County at the coalition’s annual meeting last month; three new board members were also named to the NPAC board of directors.

Senator Baker is asking the state Department of Health to hold public hearings on the neighbor islands to discuss proposed changes to the state’s wastewater management policy.

The helicopter, which begins trial landings at the facility on Monday, is expected to save 10-15 minutes by landing on campus, instead of at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku. In five years doctors say they can imagine a network that extends throughout the under-served eastern Hawaii region.

The system helps avoid the release of more than 1.7 tons of carbon dioxide annually–that’s equivalent to taking 245 passenger vehicles off the road, or planting more than 29,000 trees.
