Crown Lands Settlement Signed into Law

The settlement represents nearly three decades of work towards an agreement. It conveys contiguous and adjacent parcels in Kaka’ako Makai valued at $200 million to OHA to help in resolving the dispute over past due revenues. The parcels include Fisherman’s Wharf.

Maui Senator Lauds $200 Million OHA Settlement Land Deal

One the eve of the bill signing, Senator J. Kalani English of Maui said he was looking forward to the ceremony. He said although it “symbolizes a small amount of justice for the Hawaiian community, it is still a monumental day to be celebrated.”

Abercrombie to Sign Ceded Lands Settlement Bill

The bill signing ceremony will take place at Washington Place, home of Hawai’i’s last reigning monarch Queen Liliu’okalani.

Ceded Lands Settlement Proposal Clears Senate

The Hawaii State Senate cast a 24 to 1 vote in favor of advancing a $200 million ceded lands settlement proposal. The bill now advances to the state House for further review.

Settlement on Ceded Lands Poised for Full Senate Vote

The $200 million settlement involves the proposed conveyance of land at Kaka’ako Makai to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
