The affected individual recently returned from international travel to an area with dengue transmission. No connection to any prior cases in Hawai‘i has been identified.

The Hawai‘i Department of Health has identified a new travel-related dengue virus case on Oʻahu, bringing the total number of dengue cases in the state for 2026 to two. The first case was identified earlier this month on Maui. Both affected individuals were exposed to the virus while traveling in a region where dengue is common.

The Hawai‘i Department of Health has confirmed a travel-related dengue virus case in Hāna, on the island of Maui. Upon investigation, DOH found conditions that could increase the risk of transmission. Vector control teams are responding and will continue to be active in the area.
