The facility was named ʻIke Leʻa, meaning “to see clearly,” and features laboratories and classrooms designed to respond to the challenges in the STEM fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The Kahului Airport is one of the Maui projects that contributed to a $20 million savings statewide under the Lead by Example energy conservation initiative in Hawaii.

The list includes $3.1 million for the design and acquisition of equipment for the new Science Building at UHMC, and $504,000 for the design and construction of a softball field at Baldwin High School on Maui.
