US Sens. Mazie Hirono of Hawaiʻi and Jon Ossoff of Georgia introduced the Right to Vote Act, which would create the first affirmative federal voting rights guarantee for all eligible citizens.

Hawaiʻi Attorney General Anne Lopez called on the US Supreme Court today to reaffirm that states should be given the first opportunity to redraw voting district lines in response to likely violations of the Voting Rights Act.

Attorney General Clare E. Connors joined a coalition of 18 Attorneys General urging the Supreme Court to uphold a robust test for applying Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits policies and practices that deny or abridge citizens’ right to vote based on their race.
