The event marked the culmination of Bank of Hawai‘i’s pledge to plant the equivalent of more than 125 trees per week throughout 2022 in celebration of the bank’s 125th anniversary and commitment to sustaining the environment.

The fire is threatening a natural resource unit that the Army has invested in; chiefly a fence that protects a rare and endangered native Hibiscus species.

Crews are trying to keep the fire from reaching the top of the ridge where endangered plants and native tree snails are found.
