DWS begins water pipe inventory of customers to comply with lead, copper safety standards
County of Maui Department of Water Supply and its contractors recently began on-site inventory of Maui and Molokaʻi customers’ water service lines at homes, schools and businesses to determine whether the pipe material complies with the latest US Environmental Protection Agency rule regarding lead and copper.
8 months after wildfire, Lahaina coastal water quality reports show area is safe for ocean recreation
The Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) reviewed test results from multiple monitoring activities conducted by state agencies and community partners to confirm that the coastal waters around Lahaina are safe for ocean recreation. It is important to note that access is still restricted to certain coastal zones within the impacted area of Lahaina and these are not an option for ocean recreation at this time.
Hui O Ka Wai Ola adds four new coastal water testing sites in Lahaina
Hui O Ka Wai Ola increased its response to the Lahaina wildfires by launching four additional coastal water testing sites in West Maui (Māla Tavern, Māla Ramp, Papalaua Street, and Lahaina Harbor) and by hiring the organization’s first Fire Response Team Lead.
