Forum celebrates 25 years of education partnerships between HIDOE and Hawaiʻi’s military community

The 25th annual Joint Venture Education Forum meeting took place Thursday at the Salvation Army Kroc Center on Oʻahu. Military-dependent students, military and civilian volunteers, and representatives from Hawaiʻi’s military branches and the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education gathered to celebrate partnerships that support educational opportunities for military-impacted students.

$1.55B for Hawaiʻi projects included in House Appropriations’ bill covering military construction, veterans affairs

US Congressman Ed Case reported that the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, approved today by the US House Committee on Appropriations, includes more than $1.55 billion in military construction projects for Hawai‘i, the most of any state.

Renewable Energy Can Power 3 Oʻahu Army Installations during Emergencies

A joint Hawaiian Electric-US Army exercise determined that during a major outage, the Schofield Generating Station on Oʻahu will be able to power up a utility-owned microgrid consisting of three U.S. Army installations in Central Oʻahu.
