Opening of Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum exhibit: LAND SEA AIR: Maui in Wartime

The story of the pilot training that took place at Puʻunēnē field during WWII and throughout the island of Maui has been captured in a new exhibit at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum on Ford Island, Oʻahu. The exhibit will be dedicated on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in Historic Hangar 37.

New Book Shares Life of Maui’s Tommy “Tang” Sarashina

Sarashina was born in Lahaina in 1925 and went to finish his schooling in Japan, where he would then be conscripted into the Japan army during WWII. He was a POW in Siberia and later released back to Japan, but was banned from coming back to Maui for more than 15 years.

Survey of WWII Aircraft, Shipwrecks Focuses on Maui’s South Shore

The items will be used to evaluate wrecks for deterioration, and will help to identify when artifacts have been moved or go missing.
