Paula Dobbyn
Paula Dobbyn is an award-winning freelance reporter and journalism instructor. Paula has reported from Hawaiʻi, Alaska, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Central America. She was previously a staff writer at Honolulu Civil Beat before becoming the Snedden Chair of Science and Environmental Journalism at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She's a former Ted Scripps Fellow in Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado and a former writer-in-residence at Environment Hawaiʻi. Paula was part of the Civil Beat team named as Pulitzer Prize finalists for coverage of the 2023 Maui wildfires. She has a masters in human rights law and is a registered yoga teacher.
