Kaupakalua Road is now open.  It was closed earlier this morning because of a downed Hawaiian Tel Com pole.  Maui police say work has since been completed and the road is open for travel.

On the roadways, motorists are advised of a road closure in the upcountry area at Kaupakalua Road because of a downed telephone pole.

The incident was reported at 1:48 this morning (Monday, April 19, 2010), and Hawaiian Tel Com crews expected repairs to take six hours to complete.

Kaupakalua road is closed between the intersections at Kokomo Road-Makawao Avenue and Puuomalei Road.
