Individuals and businesses on Maui that sustained damage in Friday’s tsunami are asked to submit an assessment survey to the Maui County Civil Defense agency by Friday, March 18, 2011.

The information ensures a complete picture of the scope of damage sustained in Maui County in the March 11 tsunami event.  The information will be used to determine if the county qualifies for state or federal assistance, and to what degree.  The information will also be used to assist with flood plain and tsunami inundation zone mapping.

Affected parties still need to file claims with their insurance companies in addition to completing the damage assessment.  The Assessment surveys do not constitute an application for assistance.

Further information can be obtained by calling the Maui Civil Defense Agency at 270-7285.
