Hawaii bounced back after having its baseball win streak snapped at eight on Sunday by closing out a four-game conference series with a 5-2 win over Louisiana Tech last night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Jeff Van Doornum delivered a tie-breaking, two-run double in the seventh inning as Hawaii improved to 21-15 overall and 7-1 in the WAC, where the Bows own a 1.5-game lead over Fresno State.

His key hit came after the Bulldogs intentionally walked UH star Kolten Wong. Bad move.

Hawaii’s seven-week, 27-game home stand finally comes to an end this week, with non-conference dates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday against Valparaiso.

Twelve of Hawaii’s remaining 16 regular-season games after that are on the road, starting with a critical WAC series at Fresno State that starts on April 28.
