OHA Hosts Scholarship Fair in Hāna, Jan 25

East Maui residents are invited to a Native Hawaiian Scholarship ‘Aha (Fair) at the Hāna School Cafeteria from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and is free and open to the community.

High school and college students, parents, teachers, counselors and anyone interested in finding out more about sources of financial aid available to Native Hawaiians are encouraged to attend.

Organizers will discuss scholarships available, as well as eligibility requirements.

Agencies that provide the scholarships will also be on hand, as well as experts in financial aid applications and getting help with ancestry verification.

The scholarship ‘aha in Hāna is part of a series sponsored by OHA in 15 communities statewide in Dec. 2011 and Jan. 2012 to help connect students with resources and help them pay for college.

The last Maui scholarship ʻaha took place on Dec. 14, at the University of Hawaii Maui College in Kahului.
