Maui police say the child was brought to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment by his father at around 10:57 p.m. on Tuesday,  May 29, 2012, after being found unresponsive within the shower of his home.

Maui Police Lt. Wayne Ibarra released information this afternoon saying, initial examination by emergency room doctors revealed the child victim had sustained severe blunt force trauma to his internal organs and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Maui police say the father, a 31-year-old Wailuku resident, and his 27-year-old live-in girlfriend both denied having any knowledge of how the victim sustained his injuries.
