The Chamber of Maui Political Action Committee hosts a forum featuring Linda Lingle tonight at the ‘Iao Theater.
The event was originally scheduled as a debate, but fellow candidate Ed Case who had agreed to appear is no longer in the running for the US Senate seat; and organizers say they have been unable to confirm Congresswoman Mazie Hirono’s participation.
The debate, turned single candidate forum, will run from 5 to 6 p.m. and will give the Maui Chamber an opportunity to make an endorsement determination in the race to fill the seat being vacated by US Senator Daniel Akaka who is not running for re-election.
Chamber members will ask questions about the organization’s legislative priorities during the event. Organizers say questions will also be taken.
Since the event serve as a venue for the COMPAC endorsement process, organizers say Hirono cannot be endorsed due to her non-participation. Only Linda Lingle will be considered for endorsement, organizers said.
