Maui police have launched an attempted murder investigation following a reported fight at a Kahului home early Sunday morning that left one man hospitalized, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 5:42 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, fronting a home on Molokaʻi ʻĀkau Street in Kahului.

Police officers responding to the “disorderly conduct” and “abuse in progress” case arrived to find one man covered in blood, with lacerations, according to police reports. Police say the man was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

According to police, it was reported that two adult males were involved in a fight in which a pellet was shot with a pellet gun.

Upon further investigation, police say it was revealed that the injured man was allegedly attacked when he came out of the home.

Police say the responsible fled upon police arrival, and had not been apprehended at last report.

The case has been classified as a second-degree attempted murder investigation.
