The state Department of Transportation has issued a reminder to motorists about several road projects that will impact traffic in isolated areas of Maui in the upcoming week from Aug. 17 to 23, 2013.
In East Maui, slope stabilization work continues on the Hāna Highway in Keʻanae.
The project will result in a single-lane closure on the Hāna Highway in the eastbound direction between Mile 10.4 near the Garden of Eden, and Mile 16, in the vicinity of Keʻanae Peninsula Road.Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., daily.
In West Maui, DOT crews continue to repair ocean erosion damage that has undermined the shoulder lane foundation of the Honoapiʻilani Highway.
The work has resulted in a shift of traffic in the eastbound lane to the mauka side of the road between Front Street and Kai Hele Ku Street at Launiupoko State Park.
Speed limits are also reduced approaching the work zone, resulting in temporary delays for motorists traveling through the area.
Along the North Shore, DOT crews are conducting drainage cleaning on the Kahekili Highway in the area of Honokōhau.
According to the DOT, the project will result in alternating single-lane closures on the highway between Mile 36 in the area of Honokōhau, and Mile 42 near the Papanahoa Gulch.
Work is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily, with traffic to be contraflowed using the remaining open lane, DOT officials said.
