A California man was airlifted from the Kailua area of East Maui after falling approximately 15-feet at a pool in the area often referred to as the “Bamboo Forest,” officials said.

The incident was reported at 2:59 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the “second pool” off of the Hāna Highway near Mile-6.5, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

Fire personnel from Pāʻia and rescue crews from Kahului responded to the scene, along with the Department’s Air-1 helicopter.

The 35-year-old man from Los Angeles, California suffered a laceration to his head in the fall, and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition, said FS Chief Mainaga.

Again? How many times do people need rescuing from this place? It’s not Disneyland. Seems like Maui County should post some signs at the entrance about the cost of helicopter rescues and charge for them.

Agreed, especially since this land is private property and idiots keep trespassing.
