Fuel to Fund Kupuna Program

The non-profit Hale Makua Health Services on Maui will benefit from fuel sales at participating ʻOhana Fuels gas stations through the end of the year, under a partnership announced today.

The non-profit says the donation will assist with long-term care residents who cannot afford the cost of living at a nursing home. Proceeds will also help the organization’s mission to improve care through personalized health services, the agency said.

Under the partnership, a portion of each ʻOhana Fuels gasoline purchase on the island of Maui will be donated to Hale Makua through Dec. 31, 2013.

Participating locations include ʻOhana Fuels stations on: Wakea Avenue in Kahului, Makawao Avenue, and Haleakalā Highway in Pukalani.

Hale Makua Health Services was established 67 years ago, as a home for elder residents who had no one to care for them, or the means to pay for care.

The human services agency employes more than 450 people on Maui, through home care, rehab, out-patient, adult day care, and two residential facilities.
