Aloha Friday Beach BBQ - Relish Oceanside

Relish Oceanside on Kaʻanapali Beach

By Maui Now Staff

You can spend Aloha Friday kicking back with a unique beachside barbecue, Kāʻanapali-style.  The Westin Resort and Spa is hosting the Aloha Friday Beach BBQ this Friday, Aug. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Relish Oceanside restaurant bar.  It’s the first in a series of outdoor dining experiences embracing the Aloha spirit.

The feast, prepared by restaurant chef Jennifer Evetushick (known as Chef Jen), includes togarashi Ahi steaks with pickled Maui onion and wasabi-soy nage, ribeye steak with oceanside salt rub and ginger scallion pesto, and Polynesian-style Jerk chicken with Maui Gold pineapple chutney.

The chef is also partnering with Maui Brewing Company for this premiere event, incorporating the robust beer flavors into entrees like Kīhei Kölsch grilled tako with avocado-cilantro pesto and lomi-lomi tomato, and side dishes such as Bikini Blonde charred corn on the cob and fire-roasted Molokaʻi sweet potato with Coconut Porter jus.

Chef Jen says the laidback BBQ evening on Kāʻanapali Beach is an opportunity to bring a local dining experience into the resort.   “It ignites the curiosity of our visitors and our kamaʻāina as we play with different flavors and create an unusual take on traditional barbecue favorites,” explains Chef Jen.  “It is the perfect recipe for fun and feasting local style as everyone comes together, sit back, relax and talk story amidst a spectacular Maui sunset.”

The all-inclusive price of $65 per person offers two beverages with choices ranging from featured Maui Brewing beers and cocktails to selected wines, sodas and more.
